Auburn football is ready to battle the Baylor Bears in Week 1 of the 2026 college football season.

The Tigers take the field on Saturday for the first time in 2026 when they face Baylor in the Aflac Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Saturday's game between the Tigers and Bears is the second game of an originally scheduled home-and-home series, with Auburn winning the first game in Waco last season, 38-24. The game was moved from Jordan-Hare Stadium to Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta last October to generate NIL opportunities for student-athletes competing in the game.

Both teams are coming off 5-7 records in 2025. Auburn fired head coach Hugh Freeze before the end of the regular season, while Baylor held on to head coach Dave Aranda for at least one more season. However, Aranda's seat is as warm as this week's weather in Atlanta, and a win over Auburn would go a long way toward taking pressure off of him.

This week's game also features a quality quarterback battle between Auburn's Byrum Brown and Baylor's DJ Lagway. Brown got the best of Lagway last season when USF defeated Florida in The Swamp. Now at new schools, both quarterbacks are hoping to make strong impressions with their new fanbases.
