The Cincinnati Bearcats debut a revamped roster on Saturday as they host the Boston College Eagles at Nippert Stadium in a matchup of teams hoping to take a step forward in 2026.

Cincinnati finished last season in free fall, losing its last five games after a 7-1 start, including a 35-13 thrashing from Navy in the Liberty Bowl. Georgia Southern transfer JC French IV takes over from departed Brendan Sorsby at quarterback after throwing for 2,929 yards and 20 touchdowns last season. All three returning offensive starters are on an offensive line that allowed just eight sacks last season.
Boston College won its first and last games last season while losing all 10 in between in a disastrous second season on campus for former NFL head coach Bill O’Brien. The Eagles brought in Mason McKenzie from Division II Saginaw Valley State to run the offense after he earned conference player of the year honors while throwing for 4,300 yards and running for more than 1,600 in 25 games at Saginaw Valley. BC also adds Liberty transfer Evan Dickens at running back after he ran for 964 yards in his final five games in 2025. The Eagles were picked 16th of 17 teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference preseason poll.
The teams have split eight previous meetings, with the Bearcats winning the last two meetings, most recently in the Birmingham Bowl following the 2019 season.
