Debate continues after Michigan football’s controversial season-opening win over Western Michigan. A former Auburn camera operator now accuses the Big Ten of misleading fans about the final seconds.
Drew (@NotTheExpertYT) is a sports-gaming YouTuber and a former Auburn Athletics camera operator. He also worked on college football broadcasts for ESPN and the SEC Network. In a post on X, he called the Big Ten “liars” about the clock controversy. Drew accused the conference of making up evidence to give Michigan an extra play.
“The Big Ten is lying to you and fabricated evidence for Michigan to have an extra play at the end of the game against Western Michigan. The stadium clock is the standard. Not whatever the replay booth decides it is.” Drew wrote. He argued that officials should use the Michigan Stadium clock, not the replay booth timing, as the main reference.

The controversy began when Michigan appeared to lose after Bryce Underwood’s first Hail Mary attempt in the final seconds fell incomplete. The clock hit zero. But after review, officials ruled that Western Michigan defensive back Micah Davis touched the ball out of bounds with one second left.
That call gave Michigan another chance. Underwood then threw a 47-yard touchdown pass to JJ Buchanan. The play resulted in a dramatic 13-12 win and a field storming. The Big Ten later shared replay footage and audio. They wanted to explain why officials restored a second to the clock when the broadcast showed the clock hit zero before the ball was touched.
Drew’s comments add fuel to the ongoing controversy. His claim that the conference made up evidence remains unproven. However, it shows more people are questioning the Big Ten’s explanation.
For now, Michigan is still 1-0, but questions about “Clockgate” linger after one of the wildest Week 1 finishes you’ll ever see.
