Stephen A. Smith blasts Clemson after blowout loss against LSU

It was not a good weekend for the Clemson football program.

Clemson entered Saturday’s game against LSU with an upset in mind, but didn’t come close to that goal, losing 51-10. It was a horrific showing by Clemson, leaving head coach Dabo Swinney unsure whom to start at quarterback next Saturday against Georgia Southern.

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith watched the game and was disgusted by the way Clemson played. He went off on the program during Monday’s edition of “First Take.”

“It’s the kind of beatdown where the Clemson football team, they actually should be given the week off from class, just so they don’t have to show their face to other students on campus,” Smith said. “They should actually be confined to football facilities and bring the food to them. Uber Eats and all of that, bring it right there. Don’t let them out because they shouldn’t want to show their face to anybody, not just on campus, but in the state of South Carolina.”

The Tigers will have a long week of practice before playing their home opener against the Georgia Southern Eagles on Saturday. They’ll be a big favorite, but they have so much to clean up on both sides of the ball.
