While there is still one college football game remaining in Week 1, the Big Ten wrapped up its first week of the season on Sunday. On Monday, the conference announced its weekly football honors.

Taking home Big Ten offensive player of the week was USC quarterback Jayden Maiava. Maiava completed 23 of his 25 pass attempts for 349 yards and three touchdowns in the Trojans’ 39-0 victory over Fresno State on Friday.

Per USC, Maiava’s 92% completion percentage is the highest in a game by a Trojans quarterback dating back to at least 1995. With this being the first full week of the college football season, Maiava is the first player to be named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week in 2026.

This marks the second weekly honor of the season for Maiava. Last week, he was named the Associated Press national player of the week for Week 0, in which USC defeated San Jose State 42-26.

Maiava and the Trojans are back in action on Saturday night at the Coliseum against Louisiana. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. Pacific time on Big Ten Network.
