Washington Football Makes Top 12 for Top-Ranked 2028 Defensive Back

Following one of the biggest recruiting weekends in program history, Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies received some good news Monday afternoon. Four-star safety Jalen Flowers announced his top 12 from his 37 offers, and the Huskies found themselves in the mix for the blue-chip talent.
According to the 247Sports Composite, the Palos Verdes High School product is the No. 3-ranked player in California and the No. 84 overall recruit in the 2028 class, and the Huskies will have a battle on their hands for his services as California, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas, UCLA, and USC, also made the cut.
Listed at 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, Flowers possesses the length and physicality that secondary coach John Richardson and safeties coach Taylor Mays look for on the back end. As a sophomore, the ball-hawking defensive back, who could play either cornerback or safety at the college level, recorded 50 tackles, 2 for loss, 3 pass breakups, and 5 interceptions.
Complementing Flowers' frame is an elite display of speed, as the junior also returns punts and plays receiver for his high school program. In his season opener against Serra High School, the dual-position athlete posted 187 all-purpose yards and 2 touchdowns on just 3 touches. On the other side of the ball, he recorded 16 tackles and a pass breakup.
Washington has had no issue building strong relationships with high-end talent. During the Apple Cup, the Huskies hosted more than 40 recruits from the 2027, 2028, and 2029 classes. Although the four-star prospect was not among those who made the trip up to Montlake, it's no secret that Washington has interest in the talented prospect and will be pushing to get him to make a visit to Seattle to experience a game at Husky Stadium.
With the future of the Huskies' secondary already filled with promising young playmakers, Richardson and Mays are looking to make a big impact on another highly-touted Southern California prospect.
