The BYU Cougars are on an eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while the Arizona Wildcats are on a three-game streak of road wins (also dating back to last season), but one of those streaks is about to end. The two teams will face off in a Big 12 battle Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET at LaVell Edwards Stadium (Provo, Utah). The two teams are strolling into their contest after big wins in their previous games.

BYU’s victory came against the Utah Tech Trailblazers in Week 1, something the oddsmakers saw coming from a mile away. The Cougars steamrolled past Utah Tech 63-7. With the Cougars ahead 42-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

BYU’s success was spearheaded by the efforts of quarterback Bear Bachmeier, who threw for 198 yards and three TDs while completing 80% of his passes, and receiver Legend Glasker, who gained 81 total yards. The three passing touchdowns tied his high from Aug. 30 last year vs. Portland State.

BYU was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 308 yards. They have not posted that many yards since Aug. 30 last year, when they rushed for 468 vs. Portland State.

Meanwhile, Arizona really took it to the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks for the full four quarters, racking up a 35-7 victory. A big part of the win was the Wildcats’ ability to finish drives: they scored on all four of their trips to the red zone.

Quarterback Noah Fifita looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 279 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 76.7% of his passes. The team also got some help from running back Kedrick Reescano, who rushed for 48 yards and two scores.

Arizona’s pass rush never let up, harassing the quarterback into the turf on six separate occasions. Northern Arizona’s QB won’t forget linebacker Chase Kennedy anytime soon given he sacked him 2.5 times.

BYU’s victory brought them up to 1-0. As for Arizona, the win improved their record to an identical 1-0.

BYU didn’t have too much breathing room in their contest against Arizona when the teams last played back in Week 7 last season, but they still walked away with a 33-27 victory. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them?
