The Maryland Terrapins will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against the UConn Huskies Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET at Pratt and Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field (East Hartford, Conn.). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Maryland is headed out to face UConn after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Terrapins really took it to the Hampton Pirates for the full four quarters, racking up a 62-0 win. A big part of the victory was the Terrapins’ ability to finish drives: they scored on nine of their 10 trips to the red zone.

Running back DeJuan Williams had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 116 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 94 yards. Running back Iverson Howard was another key back, rushing for 66 yards and two scores.

Maryland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 365 yards. They have not posted that many yards since Oct. 27, 2018, when they rushed for 431 vs. Illinois.

Meanwhile, UConn entered their game in Week 1 as the heavy favorite and they fully lived up to expectations. They steamrolled past the Lafayette Leopards 56-7. With the Huskies ahead 35-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Quarterback Kalieb Osborne was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 90 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries, and also threw for 265 yards and two touchdowns (one INT) while completing 73.1% of his passes. Another player making a difference was running back Kenji Christian, who gained 68 total yards.

The win improved Maryland’s record to 1-0. As for UConn, their victory brought them up to an identical 1-0.
