Nick Saban sounds off on biggest college football overreactions from Week 1

“College GameDay” was in Austin for the showdown between the Texas Longhorns and Ohio State Buckeyes. With two of the best teams in the country facing off, the game’s result is going to cause some major overreactions, which is really something we see every week in college football. And all sports at this point, really.
Nick Saban is not a fan of this vicious take cycle and he said as much during a “College GameDay” segment about Week 1 overreactions. According to Saban, everyone needs to calm down and teams shouldn’t listen to the media.

“I think all you guys need to calm down. I hear you’ve got rat poison over here for LSU by proclaiming that they’re going to win the national championship after one game. We got people all over your alma mater Michigan about how they played last week. It’s one game. I mean everybody has the opportunity to improve. It’s a long season. One thing that I hated and despised about the media is how they sort of proclaimed your team early…”

Saban was then cut off by Kirk Herbstreit who asked for his overreaction from Week 1. Saban continued by saying he would tell his teams not to listen to “all that bullsh–.”
This is Saban’s third season on “College GameDay,” so you would think he’d be used to this by now. Games are played and everyone must extrapolate a season’s worth of success or failure based on whatever they just watched. This is the way it is and based on that, this is the way it will always be.
