Texas A&M rises in the latest USA TODAY Re-Rank after defeating ASU

Texas A&M's 48-20 blowout win over Arizona State on Saturday afternoon was a roller coaster of emotions for both fan bases, as the Aggies' slim 24-21 lead in the third quarter ballooned to 48-24 in a matter of minutes, thanks to starting quarterback Marcel Reed's three touchdown passes and two pick-six scores from sophomore Edge Marco Jones and senior cornerback Julio Humphrey.

However, the Aggie offense produced a pedestrian 255 total yards, including 92 rushing yards, which led to stalled drives early in the game, while the ASU quarterback Cutter Boley and wide receiver Reed Harris connected for two touchdowns to keep the Sun Devils in the game, until the Aggies scored a whopping 24 points in the fourth quarter.

Beating any Power Four team by nearly 30 points is an impressive achievement, but it's clear that a majority of Texas A&M alums expect much more from coach Mike Elko's deep and talented roster, especially in the trenches, as the revamped offensive line continues to struggle, but isn't a complete catastrophe.

In Week 2, Oregon's loss to Oklahoma State and Oklahoma's road loss to Michigan shook up the US LBM Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 rankings, leading to Texas A&M rising back to No. 8 in the Coaches Poll and 9th in the AP Top 25.

In weekly fashion, USA TODAY released its latest College Football Re-Rank, where Texas A&M rose four spots to No. 9 after defeating Arizona State, as most of the national media applauded the Aggies for making the necessary "winning plays" despite producing under 300 yards.

After Texas' epic comeback win over Ohio State, the Longhorns soar to No. 1, making Texas A&M the fourth-highest-ranked team in the SEC.
