A former Georgia Bulldog wide receiver came through in a big way for his new school. Former Georgia WR De'Nylon Morrissette caught a clutch touchdown that helped Purdue stay in the game in their 38-36 loss to Wake Forest.
The touchdown came in overtime. On the previous play, Purdue quarterback Ryan Browne was sacked for seven yards, leading to a crucial fourth-and-nine; Purdue trailed 30-23 and needed a touchdown. Morrissette went in motion before Brown snapped it, and on a medium dig, Browne found him in the end zone to tie it at 30.
Unfortunately, Purdue lost 38-36 in double overtime, but their offense was spectacular. Browne completed 32 of 42 passes for 329 yards and a touchdown, and Morrissette had 26 yards on two receptions, along with that touchdown grab.
It's a nice start to the year for Morrissette, who missed last season due to injury. Overall, since his freshman season in 2022, Morrissette has had just 17 receptions for 166 yards and three touchdowns. He transferred from Georgia to Purdue in 2024, and he's been waiting for his breakout moment. This season, he could be in for a much larger role if he stays healthy.
