Nebraska wide receiver Jacory Barney praises QB Anthony Colandrea

Nebraska wide receiver Jacory Barney Jr. discussed starting quarterback Anthony Colandrea and what he brings to the offense. Both players made an impact in Saturday’s 56-7 win over Bowling Green.

Barney and Colandrea connected early and often last Saturday. Barney had eight catches for 115 yards and two touchdowns. This was his first 100-yard receiving game since the program took on the Wisconsin Badgers in 2024, and the third 100-yard receiving game of his Huskers career.

Colandrea did his part as well. He finished the game going. He showed tremendous poise again as the program dominated from the get-go.

Barney talked about what the quarterback can bring to the table.

“He’s an elite quarterback. His past shows that, and what he did in the past, and what he continues to do here. How he works, the enthusiasm he plays with. The confidence he has. When you expect a ball to be out there, it’s going to be out there. You saw that today. When you go deep for a route, and you expect the ball, it’s there. It’s on the money, so all you’ve got to do is catch the ball.”

Calandra has had a successful start to the season. He has eight touchdowns and an interception through the first two games. He has also established stability at quarterback and given the Huskers reasons to be optimistic early on.
