Oklahoma has added its second commitment in the 2028 recruiting class, with Bixby (Oklahoma) four-star tight end Connor Arant choosing the Sooners on Tuesday. The in-state prospect picked Oklahoma over a group that included Alabama, Ohio State, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Nebraska and Tennessee.
Arant, who stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 225 pounds, has visited Oklahoma three times. He previously played at Jenks in 2024 before transferring to Bixby, where he has contributed as both a tight end and defensive lineman.
The 2028 prospect produced 23 tackles as a sophomore last season, including three tackles for loss and two sacks. He also recorded two pass breakups and a forced fumble on defense. At tight end, Arant caught seven passes for 129 yards and six touchdowns. Through two games of his junior season, he has added one touchdown and 12 tackles.

247Sports ranks Arant No. 219 nationally, No. 12 among tight ends and No. 4 in Oklahoma in its Composite Ranking. Rivals lists him No. 315 overall, No. 15 at tight end and No. 3 among Oklahoma prospects. ESPN lists him as a three-star recruit.
Arant now joins four-star quarterback Trey Tagliaferri as two commitments in the 2028 class. Tagliaferri, who committed in early July, is ranked as the nation’s No. 13 junior quarterback by Rivals.
The commitment comes after the Sooners’ 17-10 loss to Michigan at The Big House last Saturday. Oklahoma used fewer tight ends in that game under offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle, although Colorado State transfer Rocky Beers remained a major contributor. Beers finished with six receptions for 94 yards on nine targets, with his targets ranking second on the team behind Isaiah Sategna.
Sooners tight ends were also heavily involved during the season-opening win over UTEP. Florida transfer Hayden Hansen, Beers, Tennessee transfer Jack Van Dorselaer and Trynae Washington all saw action in that game.
Arant’s commitment also adds to tight ends coach Jason Witten’s recruiting results. Witten helped Oklahoma secure 2027 five-star tight end Seneca Driver, a 6-foot-6, 234-pound prospect from Danville, Kentucky. Driver is ranked No. 39 nationally and No. 4 at tight end by the 247Sports Composite.
The Sooners also have four-star offensive tackle Kaeden Penny, Arant’s Bixby teammate, committed in the 2027 cycle. Oklahoma currently holds the No. 7 nationally ranked 2027 recruiting class according to the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
