Will Alex Afari play for Kentucky against Texas A&M?

The Kentucky Wildcats are preparing for another major test this weekend when they go on the road to face the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday. They enter the game relatively healthy, and they could get a big boost from linebacker Alex Afari, who be ready to contribute.

Afari used up his available eligibility last season, and was prepared to move on from Kentucky. However, with the NCAA's change to the 5-for-5 rule, and the subsequent lawsuits and rulings, the Wildcats linebacker was granted an extra year, and headed back to Lexington to join the team for one last season.

Having missed the entire offseason of workouts and chance to learn a new defense, Afari wasn't ready for a big role right away, and barely played in week one. In week two, he didn't play at all.

Now, though, it appears as though he could see more action. Earlier in the week, Coach Will Stein said Afari is ready to go, seeming to indicate he would have a bigger role this week.

The Aggies are one of the SEC's best teams, and will be another tough matchup for Kentucky. The defense played well against Alabama in week two, and adding a talented player like Afari could give it an even bigger boost. Last season, he recorded 60 tackles and 2.5 sacks as a leader on the defense. We'll see how much he plays on Saturday.
