Northwestern football is scheduled to take on coach Deion Sanders' Colorado Buffaloes at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night in Evanston, Ill. 

The game is the last of the season at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium and a chance for coach David Braun's team to beat a high profile opponent heading into the Big Ten season.

Earlier this week, Colorado receivers and kickoff return coach Rashad Davis shared his impressions of the Wildcats' Tim McGarigle coached defense, using more than a few superlatives to describe what his team will face on Saturday. 

Davis Preparing for 'Physical' Wildcats Group

Davis spoke with conviction in his voice as he described the Wildcats' defense in comments shared by DNVR Buffs. 

"Very disciplined. I mean, very disciplined, they have an older group back there, very experienced group, alright. They're gonna be physical. So, we expect that," Davis said. 

"This'll be a good test for us to come up and measure ourselves as a unit and as an (offensive) team as well, but everything I've seen on film, they are good at what they do.

"They are very disciplined, they're physical, and they're gonna bring it." 

Star safety Robert Fitzgerald led the way with 14 tackles and a pass break-up for the Wildcats in Week 1 against South Dakota State, but several others had breakout games. 

Oklahoma transfer Kobie McKinzie starred at linebacker with nine tackles and one pass break-up. Defensive back Damon Walters had the same stat line while senior defensive back Braden Turner had seven tackles, one tackle for loss and three pass break-ups.

McGarigle's active and disciplined defense will be tested against a Colorado offense that has shown more than its fair share of physicality in its own right leading up to its third game. 

Buffaloes Explode vs. Weber State

Coach Sanders' Buffaloes exploded against Weber State in Week 2, answering questions about their offense unearthed during a close, low-scoring win over Georgia Tech in Week 1.

Quarterback Julian Lewis passed for 366 yards and four touchdowns while wide receiver Joseph Williams had 123 receiving yards and two touchdowns. 

The rushing attack continued on its tear from Week 1 as Micah Welch ran 11 times for 106 yards and a touchdown including a long run of 55 yards.

Northwestern's defense has a good mix of speed and physicality, led by McKinzie and Fitzgerald, but they will be tested in ways they haven't in quite some time on Saturday night. The Wildcats have the talent to come out on top, but it might not be easy. 

Davis spent plenty of time talking up the Wildcats, but the game will be played between the hash marks on Saturday, not in the press room, meaning McGarigle's unit must come to play.
