Ole Miss football fan becomes millionaire after epic College GameDay kick

College football season hits Week 3 with a massive SEC showdown, and an Ole Miss football fan is already a big winner after starring on College GameDay.
Last week, a Texas football fan won the kicking contest with one of the best kicks in the competition’s history. However, Texas student Connor Kacena-Merrell isn’t the only fan excelling in the kicking department.
College GameDay is in Oxford, Mississippi for this weekend’s showdown between the Rebels and LSU Tigers. Meanwhile, the pregame festivities reached another level after “Mustache James” made his field goal attempt with ease.
The former soccer player told Pat McAfee and Kirk Herbstreit that he’d never kicked a football before. Although, his kicking style certainly contradicts that after he earned a $1 million check following his successful kick.

McAfee was adamant prior to James’ kick that he’d only have one attempt, which has become a running joke. However, the Ole Miss fan didn’t even need to entertain kicking the ball twice.
His field goal effort split the uprights with ease and probably could’ve been good from another 10 or 15 yards. Perhaps McAfee was even shook by how good the field goal attempt was because he had to adjust the giant check amount.
However, instead of adding a single zero onto the $100,000 prize the ESPN personality added three. That would’ve been a costly mistake and majorly benefitted James if he earned $100 million for his 30-yard kick.
Now, the Rebels are hopeful that their football team can have similar success in the national spotlight on Saturday night. Lane Kiffin’s return to Oxford is all anybody can talk about in the college football realm.

LSU and Ole Miss are both ranked inside the top 10 of the latest AP Top 25 rankings, which adds more drama to the matchup. Both SEC schools have major expectations to compete for a national championship in 2026.
