Scouting Auburn: What to know about the Tigers ahead of SEC opener

Florida's first SEC opponent of the Jon Sumrall era will serve as a barometer for the 2-0 Gators who begin conference play at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Auburn enters Saturday night undefeated in its first two matchups against Baylor and Souther Mississippi. The Tigers are also launching a new regime in Alabama with head coach Alex Golesh taking over in November.
Auburn will present challenges Florida hasn't encountered against FAU or Campbell. The Tigers have a mobile quarterback, strong front seven and home-field advantage. Here is a quick scouting report on the Tigers ahead of tonight's primetime kickoff.
Auburn's offense starts with quarterback Byrum Brown, who followed Golesh over from South Florida. The senior brings plenty of familiarity with Florida, having knocked off the Gators in Gainesville last season. His game-winning drive late the 4th quarter was a highlight reel of both his arm and mobility.
Brad White and Gators will need to prioritize keeping Brown in the pocket. His ability to extend plays and create opportunities with his legs can punish a defense that loses contain.
On defense is where Auburn should test Florida the most. The Tigers haven't surrendered a rushing touchdown though two games and have yet to allow a run longer than 12 yards. That important considering Jadan Baugh has been the engine of Florida's offense through the first two weeks of the season. He's collected 296 yards and five touchdowns on only 28 carries.
If Auburn can limit Baugh without overcommitting defenders to the box, that should force Aaron Philo to shoulder more of the load in his first SEC road start.
The Tigers offensive line was rebuilt this offseason and surrendered five sacks against Baylor in the first game. It appears to be a unit that Florida pass rush can capitalize on. The Gators front will be looking to get back on track after a lackluster performance against their other Power Four opponent this season. L.J. McCray and the rest of the Gators' front will need to collapse the pocket and prevent escape lanes for Brown.
