Samuel Singleton Jr. injury update: Florida State RB leaves after big play

As Florida State tries to come back against Alabama, the Seminoles likely will have to do so without one of their top players.

Running back Samuel Singleton Jr. was in crutches and headed to the locker room after pulling off a big gain against the Crimson Tide in the third quarter of their matchup on Saturday, Sept. 19. It came on Florida State's first drive of the second half, when Singleton hauled in a 65-yard catch-and-run all the way to the Alabama 2-yard line.

It's unclear what happened on the play, but he took an awkward tackle on it as he got dragged down by the Alabama defender, and he eventually left the game. The Seminoles were able to find the end zone two plays later to cut the deficit.

Singleton was spotted leaving the field on crutches. It's unclear what the injury is:

Regardless, it's still a brutal loss for Florida State. He was part of the running committee and had 68 yards and a touchdown coming into the game, but had major contributions in the passing attack. He entered the day the leading receiver with 94 yards and two touchdown on six catches for the Seminoles this season.

He had already made two plays in the game against Alabama, notably the 65-yard catching run he had. Singleton had two catches for 68 yards, with four rushes for seven yards against Alabama.
