AP Top 25: Ole Miss moves to No. 4 after beating LSU

Ole Miss is now a top-five team.

The Rebels moved up from No. 8 to No. 4 in the post-Week 3 AP Top 25 after their 32-24 win over LSU on Saturday night. After Lane Kiffin’s Tigers scored 17 straight to tie the game, a fourth-quarter run by Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss turned out to be the game-winning score.

LSU leapfrogged Indiana, Miami and Ohio State after all three of those teams won over the weekend. LSU dropped from No. 7 to No. 10.

The top three stayed the same as Texas, Georgia and Notre Dame were also all victorious. Between Ohio State and LSU are No. 8 Alabama and No. 9 BYU.

Texas A&M fell from No. 9 to No. 23 after its home loss to Kentucky on Saturday. The Aggies were pushed around by the Wildcats in the 31-21 loss.

SMU fell to No. 22 after its loss to Louisville. The Cardinals jumped up seven spots to No. 16 after the win.

The SEC had two new teams enter the poll in Florida and Mississippi State to set up a loaded Week 4 of ranked matchups in the conference. No. 1 Texas visits No. 14 Tennessee, No. 4 Ole Miss heads to No. 21 Florida, No. 10 LSU hosts No. 21 Texas and No. 19 Missouri goes to No. 24 Mississippi State.

There’d be a fifth game between ranked teams in the league if Oklahoma stayed in the top 25. However, the Sooners dropped out of the poll after their ugly 14-6 win over New Mexico.
