Does Florida Have the Best Offense in the SEC?

This is a question that usually never would've been asked for a team coached by Jon Sumrall, but suddenly, the Florida Gators have one of the most prolific offenses in the SEC.
Sure, Georgia has the most points scored (178), but Florida isn't too far behind. They just had a terrific game against Auburn, one that proved they're not only ready to compete in this conference, but one that proved their worth to be in the AP Top 25.
Florida heads into Week 4 ranked No. 21 in the AP Poll, and that marks a first for the Sumrall era in Gainsville.
Through their first three games, the Gators have scored 162 points which is the second most in the conference. Plenty of other teams have scored 100+, but Florida is the only team within 20 points of the Bulldogs' offensive barrage to start the 2026 season.
Where Florida's offense ranks in the SEC
- Georgia: 178 points
- Florida: 162 points
- Alabama AND Tennessee: 143 points
- Mississippi State: 141 points
- South Carolina: 136 points
When looking at the top six scoring teams in the conference, it really puts things into perspective. This is a Florida team that has scored 66, 52, and 44 points, respecitvely.
The 44 they just put up against Auburn are the most the Tigers have allowed in a game since November 8, 2025, when they lost 45-38 to No. 16 Vanderbilt in overtime.
Quarterback Aaron Philo has done his job, but running back Jadan Baugh already has eight touchdowns on the year. He's second in the nation with his 458 rushing yards, and he's tied for first in all of college football with his touchdown total.
Coming off a hat trick, Baugh is one of the main reasons why this team was able to enter the Top 25.
Florida only scored 259 points last year
To think this team is only 97 points shy of their point total from their 12 games last year is unbelievable. Florida has put together one of the best turnarounds in the entire nation, and they've suddenly emerged as a major player in the SEC.
Vernell Brown III and Dallas Wilson are an incredible receiving duo, and the pair of sophomores has two touchdowns each. Both are Florida natives, so that certainly helps, but it really shows the direction of this program as they've come into their own with a shocking emergence in 2026.
