What Nebraska coach Matt Rhule said about MSU, upcoming matchup on Saturday

Michigan State football is set to host Nebraska this week, and the Cornhuskers' head coach is fully expecting a tough battle in East Lansing, Mich.

The Spartans and Cornhuskers are set to battle it out in a Big Ten opener matchup on Saturday afternoon, and Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule had some kind words to say about the Spartans ahead of the matchup. Rhule previewed this week's matchup during his Monday press conference, where he acknowledged Michigan State will be a "hostile environment" and that the Spartans are going to make things tough based on what he's seen so far this season.

"They're coached to win the turnover battle, they're not going to have penalties — they have half as many penalties through three games as we do," Rhule said of the Spartans. "They're going to run the football. Cam (Edwards) can really run, they're going to run the football, they're going to have a powerful offensive line.

"They're going to play great special teams, they're going to play great defense — take away the run," Rhule continued. "They're not going to give you anything easy."

Michigan State is looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season last week at Notre Dame, now holding a 2-1 record. Nebraska is a perfect 3-0 on the season, but this will be their toughest test yet after handling a trio of lower tier competition thus far.

Rhule's positive words on the Spartans shows that he is expecting this be a hard-fought game. Michigan State is also expecting that based on what Pat Fitzgerald had to say on Monday too. This should be a fun old school, hard-hitting Big Ten game on Saturday evening.
