West Virginia, Louisville football stars get major award after Week 3

West Virginia quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. and Louisville defensive back Kaleb Beasley were tremendous in their games on Saturday, Sept. 19.
Hawkins Jr. was electric for West Virginia and the biggest reason the program beat Virginia 38-27. He finished with 190 yards through the air and two touchdowns, while adding 18 carries for 123 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Meanwhile, Beasley compiled 10 tackles and two interceptions in Louisville’s 41-31 win over SMU. It was a big win for Louisville because SMU is one of the other top contenders in the ACC.
Because Beasley and Hawkins Jr. had outstanding performances, they were named the Walter Camp National Players of the Week on Tuesday, per On3’s Brett McMurphy. Hawkins Jr. is the Offensive Player of the Week, while Beasley is the Defensive Player of the Week.
West Virginia, Louisville off to great starts
West Virginia is off to a 3-0 start under head coach Rich Rodriguez and is close to being ranked in the AP Top 25. A road win against Oklahoma State this Saturday could vault the program into the poll.
Louisville is the No. 16 team in the country and is 2-1 overall after the win over SMU. The program’s only loss came against No. 4 Ole Miss in Week 1.
Louisville will play Wake Forest this Saturday in an attempt to get to 3-1 overall.
