NEW 2027 NFL Draft QB Rankings After CFB Week 3: Is Trinidad Chambliss the New Future No. 1 Pick?

We are still months away from the 2027 NFL Draft, but there is a ton of excitement about next year’s class. The annual event always offers teams the chance to land a signal caller with the potential to be a franchise quarterback. However, the 2027 edition will have one of the deepest QB classes in years, and a recent report even suggested as many as 10 of them could be selected in Round 1.

So which QBs are pushing their way up NFL Draft boards after the first three weeks of the season? We look to answer that question with our latest rankings of the top QB draft prospects following Week 3 of the college football schedule.

9. Rocco Becht, Penn State

At his best, former Iowa State starter Rocco Becht made the Cyclones offense a group to respect when he was under center. In 2024, he threw for 3,505 yards, ran for 318, and posted 33 total touchdowns. However, a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder hampered him and cut his season short in November.

He followed head coach Matt Campbell to Penn State this year and has been very impressive — 751 passing yards and 9 TDs to 0 INTs. While he was seen as a likely mid-round pick heading into the season, he is making NFL evaluators rethink his ceiling.

8. Drew Mestemaker, Oklahoma State

Drew Mestemaker was a hidden gem last year at North Texas. Leading the nation in passing yards (4,379) and was tied for second in touchdowns (34). He followed his coach to Oklahoma State this year and will get a far larger spotlight to show he is a top-10 pick in 2027.

Mestemaker has good size at 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds. Although he has to work on certain parts of his mechanics and show he can be just as good against better competition, he has a strong arm and is a great deep-ball thrower. He is also skilled at making reads and going through his progressions patiently.

7. CJ Carr, Notre Dame

Being the starting QB for an iconic program like Notre Dame comes with a lot of pressure. The type of pressure freshmen are not usually ready for. However, CJ Carr won the QB1 job last summer and was impressive in his first year as a starter in South Bend.

Carr has continued that in 2026, and it is why he is moving up on draft boards. He has a good arm and very sound footwork that allows him to throw accurately and with solid power. However, he hasn’t shown the ability to extend plays, so he needs a team with reliable line play in front of him.

6. Julian Sayin, Ohio State

Ohio State’s Julian Sayin had big shoes to fill last season. Will Howard wasn’t one of the best QBs in the country when he started for the Buckeyes in 2024. But he did something many of his predecessors couldn’t by winning a national title. Yet, despite the high expectations as the QB1 for a program looking to repeat as champs, Sayin delivered in 2025 by being a Heisman Finalist.

The OSU QB has a very good arm, can make all the throws, and is the most accurate passer in the nation. The biggest knocks on Sayin are his slight build and his inability to extend plays if his first reads aren’t available.

5. Darian Mensah, Miami

One of the biggest signings in the transfer portal this spring was Miami replacing Carson Beck with Duke star Darian Mensah. The former Blue Devils QB had a dynamite year in his lone season at Durham as he finished second in the nation in passing yards and touchdowns. He has been even better in 2026.

While he has the luxury of having an elite WR in Malachi Toney, Mensah has still been outstanding so far this year (873 yards and 11 TDs to 0 INTs). He is a very accurate passer with great touch. But he doesn’t have a powerful arm, and there are some questions about whether his body can hold up at the next level.

4. Jayden Maiava, USC

When healthy, USC’s Jayden Maiava is one of the most dangerous deep ball throwers in the country. He showed that last season when the Trojans star posted 3,711 passing yards with 24 touchdowns to 10 interceptions, and continues to impress in 2026 with 1,173 passing yards and 12 TDs to 1 INT after three starts.

Maiva has a strong arm and good frame at 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds. To break into the top five of the 2027 NFL Draft, he needs to keep his turnovers low and tighten up his fundamentals.

3. Trinidad Chambliss, Ole Miss

Trinidad Chambliss was one of the best stories in college football last year. The junior college star lost the QB1 battle in camp to Austin Simmons. But when Simmons suffered a serious injury in Ole Miss’ Week 2, Chambliss never gave up the starting job as he threw for close to 4,000 yards, ran for over 500 more, and had 30 total TDs.

Chambliss is off to a great start in 2026 and is arguably the best dual-threat QB in the country — 924 passing yards and 9 total TDs. He is very good at extending plays and throwing on the run. He also has a knack for making big plays in high-pressure moments. But he is on the smaller side — 6-foot-0 and 205 pounds, and he has shown issues avoiding hits. Which will be a big problem in the NFL.

2. Dante Moore, Oregon

Oregon’s Dante Moore surprised many by passing on being the No. 2 pick in this year’s draft to return to lead the Ducks offense in 2026. It’s still unclear if that was the right move, but there is a lot to like about Moore.

He has good size at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds. The Oregon QB1 is a good deep ball thrower with a snappy release and is good at reading defenses. However, he is a classic pocket passer in a dual-threat era and has shown hesitancy when dealing with pressure.

1. Arch Manning, Texas

A case can be made that Texas QB Arch Manning is the most famous player in college football right now. But it’s not because he was amazing in his first year as a starter in 2025. It’s because he has two former NFL stars as uncles, and he was the most hyped high school player of the decade two years ago.

Nevertheless, despite his up-and-down season last year, he showed his immense potential. So far, he has been rock-solid in 2026 and played a huge role in a wild comeback win against No. 1 Ohio State. If he can continue to grow, he has all the tools to be a star at the next level, and it’s why so many NFL evaluators are in love with him.
