Auburn is 2-1 this season, defeating Baylor 17-16 and Southern Miss 43-8 before falling 44-39 against Florida last weekend. Against the Gators, Tigers quarterback Byrum Brown had a strong game, connecting on 20 for 35 passes for 271 yards and three touchdowns to one interceptions, while running the ball 18 times for 65 yards and one touchdown. Keshaun Singleton caught seven passes for 99 yards and a score, and Chas Nimrod caught six passes for 95 yards and one touchdown.
Meanwhile, Vanderbilt is 3-0 this season, defeating Austin Peay 28-9, Delaware 35-26 and NC State 35-31. The win over the Wolfpack was a wild one, as Vanderbilt was losing with six seconds left by a 31-28 score, and NC State had the ball near its own goal line. Quarterback CJ Bailey was instructed to take a safety, but was tackled in the end zone and fumbled, allowing Vanderbilt to land on the ball and win the game on a last-second touchdown. That’s the kind of ending you only see in college football.
Against NC State, Vanderbilt was led by quarterback Jared Curtis, who connected on 20 of 34 passes for 277 yards and three touchdowns (to two interceptions). Curtis also ran the ball 12 times for 64 yards in the win.
