Matchup Notes
Heading into Saturday’s matchup, Miami Ohio is favored by -3.5. Last weekend, UConn fans witnessed a well-balanced and fast-paced offense and look to carry that momentum into this weekend. Defensively, the team has showcased their aggressive ability to pressure the quarterback and make them roll out of the pocket. Against Southern Miss, the secondary executed several big plays to add points and deny the Golden Eagles from scoring.
Scouting Miami Ohio Football
In Week 3, Cincinnati beat the RedHawks 35-31. Quarterback David McComb completed 17 of 28 (60.7%) passes for 334 yards, an interception and a rushing and passing touchdown. The Kansas transfer averaged 11.9 yards per throw and ranks 30th with 809 passing yards in three outings. McComb is seen as a dual-threat gunslinger, but he has not yet fully proven he can carry the ball. So far, the redshirt Freshman has only rushed for 12 yards. Protecting him and opening holes for the run game has been a struggle. So far, the offensive line has given up five sacks, while their top running back, Lazaro Rogers, has rushed for just 71 yards.
Similar to UConn, Miami Ohio’s defense has generated pressure in the pocket. The team ranks 17th nationally in sacks and has forced two red-zone fumbles.
