The Florida Gators received some great news ahead of their massive game against the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday. According to Chad Simmons of Rivals, four-star safety Cyion Smith has committed to the Gators.

Smith is from Blountstown, Florida, and is a member of the 2028 recruiting cycle. He was previously committed to the Mississippi State Bulldogs, but backed off his early pledge on May 8. The Gators offered him a scholarship eight days later and quickly became a major factor in his recruitment.

He returned to Gainesville to watch the gane against Ole Miss, with the Gators sealing the deal prior to the game. He is ranked as the No. 279 overall player and No. 30 safety in the Rivals industry ranking. He is also the No. 37 player from Florida.

Smith has had a solid start to his junior season at Blountstown High School, playing offense and defense. In five games, he has 24 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and a blocked kick. He has also caught seven passes for 201 yards and three touchdowns.

He is Florida's second commitment in the 2028 recruiting cycle, joining four-star wide receiver Armani Strong, who is from Miami. Florida's 2027 recruiting class is ranked as the 8th-best in the country and the 4th-best in the SEC by Rivals.
