Georgia football linebacker Chris Cole returns Oklahoma fumble for TD

Oklahoma football seemed to be finding its first groove of the afternoon.

Trailing Georgia 14-0, OU quarterback John Mateer engineered a 9-play, 60 yard drive in what looked like the Sooners' first points of the contest. That was until Georgia linebacker Chris Cole had a say.

Mateer rolled out to the left inside the 5-yard line and in an attempt to throw, fumbled the football and Cole picked it up with nothing but green in front of him. The 85-yard scoop-and-score gave the Bulldogs a 21-0 lead with 8:58 remaining in the second quarter.

It was the first touchdown for the Georgia defense in the 2026 season.

Georgia added on another takeaway with a KJ Bolden interception on the next Oklahoma possession.

Cole added another fumble recovery after a Raylen Wilson strip sack of Mateer late in the second quarter, putting the Bulldogs in position for a Chauncey Bowens rushing score.

Georgia leads Oklahoma 28-0 in the final seconds of the first half.
