SEC Power Rankings: Where Florida, Alabama sit following loaded Week 4

Week 4 in the SEC was unlike any other the conference has seen this season, a slate which featured four ranked vs. ranked matchups.

The conference originally kicked off Saturday in Knoxville where ESPN's "College GameDay" set up the Top 25 clash between Texas and Tennessee inside Neyland Stadium. Following in the afternoon was another Top 25 showdown in Gainesville between Ole Miss and Florida, while Georgia also hosted Oklahoma in a huge clash in Athens.

Finishing the slate was a nightcap that was just as good in terms of matchups, headlined by a pair of ranked games in both Baton Rouge and Starkville. The latter also became arguably the game of the week in the SEC, if not college football overall.

Following is a look at how those results impacted the latest SEC football power rankings entering Week 5.

16. Arkansas Razorbacks

Arkansas (2-2 overall, 0-1 SEC) snapped a two-game skid Saturday night with a 34-6 nonconference home win over Tulsa. The Razorbacks nearly doubled Tulsa in total yards gained, and were led by a three touchdown performance from quarterback KJ Jackson, two of which came on the ground.

A road trip to Kyle Field and Texas A&M awaits the Razorbacks in Week 5.

15. South Carolina Gamecocks

South Carolina (2-2, 0-2) dropped their second consecutive game Saturday night with a 49-18 loss at Alabama. The Gamecocks did rack up 419 total yards of offense in the game, but played catch up the entire game following a fast start from Alabama, something they could not overcome.

Returning home, South Carolina will host Kentucky in Week 5.

14. Vanderbilt Commodores

Vanderbilt (3-1, 0-1) suffered their first loss of the season at Auburn, 21-15. The Commodores did receiver a trio of field goals from kicker Brock Taylor, but were never able to overcome a 14-3 halftime deficit.

A road trip to Georgia looms in Week 5 as Vanderbilt's toughest test yet.

13. Auburn Tigers

Auburn (3-1, 1-1) got back in the win column Saturday afternoon with a 21-15 home win over Vanderbilt. The Tigers were able to build a first half lead, something that eventually helped them to a win after they were shutout in the second half.

Auburn's first true road game comes in Week 5 at Tennessee.

12. Oklahoma Sooners

Oklahoma (2-2, 0-1) opened SEC play with a rough showing at Georgia that resulted in a 41-13 loss. The Sooners were plagued by four turnovers in the loss, three of which were from quarterback John Mateer.

A bye week now awaits the Sooners.

11. Texas A&M Aggies

Texas A&M (2-2, 0-2) suffered a surprising road loss at LSU on Saturday night, 35-6. The Aggies simply struggled in Baton Rouge, headlined by a 506-197 deficit in total yardage for the game.

Looking to snap a two-game skid, Texas A&M returns home to host Arkansas.

10. Kentucky Wildcats

Kentucky (3-1, 1-1) defeated South Alabama at home in nonconference action Saturday, 45-21. The Wildcats had a big showing on the ground rushing for 390 yards as a team, with each of CJ Baxter, Jason Patterson, and Jovantae Barnes hitting the 100-yard mark.

A road trip to South Carolina in SEC play awaits Kentucky in Week 5.

9. Missouri Tigers

Missouri (3-1, 0-1) saw their undefeated start to the season end Saturday with a 31-24 loss at Mississippi State. The Tigers received three touchdown passes from Austin Simmons, but were shutout in the fourth quarter, giving up a second half lead.

Columbia will be the site of a premier SEC game in Week 5 as Missouri hosts Florida.

8. Tennessee Volunteers

Tennessee (3-1, 0-1) nearly pulled off a major upset Saturday afternoon against Texas, eventually falling to the top-ranked Longhorns in Knoxville, 20-17. Despite a rough showing offensively, the Volunteers defense kept Tennessee in the game, eventually giving them a chance to win on the final play before a midfield heave toward the end zone fell incomplete.

The Volunteers will remain at home in SEC play in Week 5 against Auburn.

7. Mississippi State Bulldogs

Mississippi State (4-0, 2-0) remained undefeated with a huge 31-24 win over Missouri in Starkville. Kamario Taylor had another big showing by throwing three touchdown passes, which helped Mississippi State make a comeback in the fourth quarter to take the lead and hold on to win.

The Bulldogs will host likely the SEC's biggest Week 5 game against Alabama.

6. Ole Miss Rebels

Ole Miss (3-1, 1-1) suffered their first loss of the season Saturday afternoon on the road at Florida, 52-28. Despite a three-touchdown showing from quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, the Rebels defense surrendered 302 rushing yards to the Gators, as well as six scores on the ground.

The Rebels now enter a bye week.

5. Florida Gators

Florida (4-0, 2-0) had arguably the SEC's biggest win of Week 4, an impressive 52-28 home victory over Ole Miss. The Gators ran for 302 yards as a team in the win, headlined by 142 on the ground with three touchdowns from star running back Jadan Baugh.

SEC play will continue for Florida in Week 5 on the road at Missouri.

4. Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama (4-0, 2-0) cruised to a big 49-18 home win over South Carolina after a big first half. Keelon Russell led the Crimson Tide with five total touchdowns, four of which came through the passing game.

The Crimson Tide will travel for likely the SEC's biggest Week 5 matchup at Mississippi State.

3. LSU Tigers

LSU (3-1, 1-1) routed Texas A&M in Baton Rouge, 35-6. The Tigers simply dominated the matchup by not only forcing a pair of Aggie turnovers, but also out-gaining Texas A&M in total yardage, 506-197.

One final nonconference game awaits LSU at home in Week 5 against McNeese.

2. Texas Longhorns

Texas (4-0, 1-0) remained unbeaten Saturday afternoon with a 20-17 road win at Tennessee, narrowly avoiding the potential upset. The Longhorns defense was undoubtedly the biggest story in the win by limiting Tennessee to 221 yards of total offense, while also racking up 10 sacks as a team, five of which were from Colin Simmons.

A bye week now awaits the Longhorns.

1. Georgia Bulldogs

Georgia (4-0, 2-0) remains in the top spot following a dominant 41-13 home rout of Oklahoma. The Bulldogs forced four Oklahoma turnovers in the win, headlined by an 85-yard fumble returned for a touchdown by Chris Cole.

Next up for Georgia is another SEC home game against Vanderbilt.
