The 2027 recruiting cycle is incredibly loaded at the EDGE position. There are 37 blue-chip EDGEs, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies.

All 37 are committed and they have been for some time. 11 of those 37 pass-rushers are top-100 prospects overall. Some of the more hotly contested recruitments in the nation have involved some of the best at the position.

Ohio State holds a commitment from the top-ranked EDGE, but that certainly almost wasn’t the case. Miami flipped a five-star from LSU, while USC went across the country to land a pledge from one of the best in the Northeast.

Rivals is taking another look at the top 10 EDGE prospects in the 2027 cycle, per the Rivals Industry Rankings. Blue-chippers continue to bolster their stock now that their senior high school seasons are well underway.

1. David Jacobs — Ohio State

School:Blessed Trinity Catholic (Ga.)
Committed Since: Dec. 29, 2025

In what remains one of the crazier decision days of the cycle, Jacobs seemed to be headed for Miami, but he instead made a last-minute switch and opted for Ohio State. Many thought that Dec. 29 would be the beginning of a long and winding recruitment, but the elite pass-rusher remains locked in with the Buckeyes nine months later. Tennessee is the program working the hardest to flip him down the stretch. Jacobs will finish his high school career with over 300 tackles.

2. Anthony Sweeney — Texas Tech

School:St. Frances Academy (Md.)
Committed Since: April 13

Texas Tech’s new recruiting surge isn’t limited to just landing top prospects in Texas. The Red Raiders went up to Maryland this spring and beat out LSU and South Carolina, among others, for Sweeney. Now playing for one of the nation’s top HSFB programs, Sweeney is an imposing defensive playmaker at 6-foot-4 and 235 pounds and he’s one of two five-stars pledged to TTU this cycle.

3. Abraham Sesay — Notre Dame

Rivals Industry Rankings: No. 20 NATL.
School:Downingtown East (Pa.)
Committed Since: June 16

Sesay had a wealth of suitors and he took myriad visits throughout the fall, spring and summer. The likes of LSU and Penn State were in the mix, but as he worked toward a June commitment, it became evident that Notre Dame was the program trending and it indeed landed his pledge. Sesay stacked 80 tackles as a junior and is a game-wrecker at the prep level.

4. Jaiden Bryant — Miami

Rivals Industry Rankings: No. 24 NATL.
School:Irmo (S.C.)
Committed Since: June 3

Bryant was originally a South Carolina lean, but LSU then emerged once position coach Sterling Lucas moved from Columbia to Baton Rouge. He committed to the Tigers in January, but that pledge lasted just five months. Miami jammed its foot in the door, got him to Coral Gables and pulled off one of the biggest flips of the entire cycle. He’s one of four five-stars in the nation’s No. 3 class.

5. Zyron Forstall — Texas A&M

Rivals Industry Rankings: No. 25 NATL.
School:IMG Academy (Fla.)
Committed Since: March 31

One of the next great prospects to come out of the most notable HSFB program in the nation, Forstall has long been a heralded pass-rusher. The 6-foot-3, 220-pounder checked out a plethora of top programs, including Miami and Notre Dame, but Texas A&M made a splash with the New Orleans native and he locked in with Mike Elko and the Aggies in the spring.

6. Mekai Brown — USC

Rivals Industry Rankings: No. 26 NATL.
School:Greenwich Country Day (Conn.)
Committed Since: April 17

Brown was another prospect who took full advantage of the recruiting process. He was constantly on the road checking out his favorite schools and top contenders. In the end, USC beat out Notre Dame, Ohio State, Ole Miss and Texas A&M. The Trojans aren’t taking a big class this cycle, but they’ve prioritized prospects like Brown and showed some veteran recruiting chops by going across the country to pluck his pledge. He’s one of two five-stars in the mix for Lincoln Riley and Co.

7. Rashad Streets — Oregon

Rivals Industry Rankings: No. 32 NATL.
School:Millbrook (N.C.)
Committed Since: April 3

Oregon is no stranger to excelling at coast-to-coast recruiting and landing someone like Streets continues to show why Dan Lanning and the Ducks are among the nation’s best on the trail. The staunch 6-foot-3, 240-pounder chose the West Coast Big Ten program over Ohio State and Tennessee, among others. Streets has eclipsed 100 total tackles in each of the previous two seasons.

8. Chris Whitehead — LSU

Rivals Industry Rankings: No. 53 NATL.
School:Lloyd C. Bird (Va.)
Committed Since: June 17

LSU won out for Whitehead after getting him back to Baton Rouge during official visit season. The Tigers beat out the likes of Ohio State, Penn State and South Carolina. He reminds Rivals’ Scouting and Rankings Team of Clelin Ferrell and remains the No. 1 senior prospect in all of Virginia. Whitehead is one half of one of the nation’s best EDGE commit duos this cycle.

9. Frederick Ards III — Texas A&M

Rivals Industry Rankings: No. 54 NATL.
School:Jones (Fla.)
Committed Since: June 2

A&M has recruited the Sunshine State incredibly well this cycle. Ards is one of five top-10 prospects in Florida who’s committed to the Aggies and he helps headline the nation’s No. 1 class alongside Forstall and tons of other blue-chippers. Ards committed right after logging his official visit to College Station, canceling OVs to Alabama and Florida in the process. He’s remained on the road this fall, but the 6-foot-3.5, 220-pounder is still locked in with the SEC program.

10. K.J. Green — LSU

Rivals Industry Rankings: No. 56 NATL.
School:Stephenson (Ga.)
Committed Since: June 7

Less than a week after losing Bryant to Miami, LSU filled its need at the EDGE position by landing Green, the No. 4 senior prospect in the Peach State. He was another blue-chipper who pledged directly after logging an official visit. Georgia and Oregon were among other schools pushing hard, but the impressive athlete is locked in with Lane Kiffin and the Tigers. Green had 18 sacks as a junior and he’s putting up gaudy numbers as a senior this fall.
