Can anyone slow down the Miami Hurricanes as they march toward their first ACC championship appearance? Maybe Clemson, the team that owed the conference in the 2010s, could give them a run for their money in a prime-time showcase in Death Valley.

Miami (4-0, 2-0 in ACC) has won every game this season by at least 13 points, though its last road game against Wake Forest was touch-and-go as several key players were injured. But Malachi Toney was back to his Heisman-worthy self in a 52-3 pummeling of Central Michigan last week, bringing in a game-high six catches for 120 yards and his sixth touchdown of the season. Chris Wheatley-Humphrey and freshman Javian Mallory continued to show off the Hurricanes' depth at running back behind Mark Fletcher Jr., who sat out the game with an injury.

Clemson (3-1, 2-0) has its own tough runner in Gideon Davidson, who scampered for 159 yards and two TDs in last week's 24-10 win at California. It was the Tigers' third straight win after a humiliating 51-10 stomping at the hands of LSU in the opener. Coach Dabo Swinney has turned the offense over to freshman quarterback Tait Reynolds, who has thrown just one touchdown and two interceptions in three games running the show.

Former Duke quarterback Darian Mensah leads the nation with an .887 completion percentage, sits tied for the lead with 14 passing touchdowns and is top-10 in yards (1,211) in his first four games at Miami. Clemson has scored eight touchdowns as a team.

The Canes rank No. 1 in the nation in total offense and No. 2 in total defense, third in scoring offense and fourth in scoring defense. The Tigers do rank fifth in the ACC in pass defense thanks in large part to a pair of tough cornerbacks in Ashton Hampton and Elliot Washington II, but the last time they played a similarly dominant offense, LSU piled up 644 yards (split almost 50-50 between rushing and passing yards). Lead running back Mark Fletcher and star defensive tackle Ahmad Moten expect to be back in the lineup after sitting last week, and while that still does leave UM without their two starting cornerbacks, it likely won't make as much a difference against the likes of T.J. Moore and Bryant Wesco as it did against Wake Forest's Carlos Hernandez.
