Oregon quarterback Dante Moore is "healthy and doing well" as he recovers from the injury he suffered in the Ducks' Week 4 win vs. Southern California, coach Dan Lanning said.

The latest Moore update came on Wednesday, Sept. 30. Lanning has optimism in his quarterback's return to the football field, although it is very early to determine when that will be.

"Still going through process there with him," he said. "It's great to know that he's healthy and doing well, but still continue to evaluate that."

Moore was injured against USC on Saturday, Sept. 26, as he attempted to slide during a scramble. Trojan linebacker Desman Stephens II hit him on the head with his forearm, knocking his helmet back to the turf. The quarterback instantly went down into the fencing position, an indication of a concussion, and was stretched off the field an into an ambulance to be taken to a Los Angeles area hospital.

The indications were it was a serious injury, but the day after the game, Lanning said in a statement Moore only suffered a concussion and there were no additional injuries. He added Oregon would "move forward with an abundance of caution" considering Moore's future.

The Oregon coach added he's "done talking about this game" as he tries to move forward with this season.

Moore said on Monday, Sept. 28 he had made progress in his recovery and "I’ll be back soon."

When could Dante Moore return?

While there is no indication of when Moore could suit up again for Oregon given the fluidity of the concussion protocol, there is a possibility he could play in the Ducks' next game. Oregon does not play on Oct. 3, with a Week 5 bye.

Instead, Oregon's next game is against UCLA on Oct. 10, giving the team nearly two weeks to see if Moore will be able to play. Assuming Moore will not play, Oregon will ride with Dylan Raiola, who came up clutch for the Ducks after Moore's injury. He threw for 289 passing yards and two touchdowns to help beat USC in a critical win for the team's playoff hopes.

"He's proven he can play winning football for us, and has a skill set that'll be advantageous for us to have," Lanning said.
