College football games, scores, how to watch: Alabama vs. Mississippi State, Ohio State vs. Iowa and more

The first weekend of October has three matchups between ranked teams and a host of other intriguing college football games.

It all starts early in the SEC as Keelon Russell and No. 7 Alabama head to Starkville for a showdown against Kamario Taylor and No. 16 Mississippi State. Russell and Taylor have both come out of the gate hot and are very much in the Heisman race early this season, so the quarterback duel should be must-see TV.

In the afternoon window, all eyes will shift to a Big Ten clash between No. 5 Ohio State and No. 15 Iowa. The Hawkeyes are coming off a last-gasp road thriller at Michigan a week ago and have the best scoring defense in the country, but they'll have their hands full with Julian Sayin, Jeremiah Smith and the Buckeyes' offense. Also in the afternoon is an SEC matchup between No. 8 Florida and No. 25 Missouri.

The marquee matchup on Saturday night is an ACC clash between No. 4 Miami and Clemson. Will Darian Mensah continue his torrid run early this season, or will the Tigers clamp down on the talented QB?
