For a second time in as many years, Jerry Neuheisel has upset the Penn State Nittany Lions. Neuheisel knocked off Penn State with Northwestern on Saturday, getting a 34-13 win to move the Wildcats to 3-1 on the season.

Neuheisel is in his first season as Northwestern’s quarterbacks coach, reuniting with former UCLA Bruins head coach Chip Kelly, who’s Northwestern’s offensive coordinator. It might be some early-career ownage for Neuheisel over Penn State, mowing down the Nittany Lions yet again, this time with his new team.

Northwestern didn’t force it through the air against the Nittany Lions, throwing for just 93 yards while adding a whopping 413 rushing yards. Two different Wildcats, Caleb Komolafe and Joseph Himon II, each rushed for over 160 yards.

In Neuheisel’s playcalling debut for UCLA last year, he helped spark the Bruins offense which led to a 42-37 win over No. 7 Penn State. UCLA found success against the Penn State defense on the ground, putting up 269 yards on the ground with Nico Iamaleava leading the way with 128. Anthony Woods and Jaivian Thomas also each added over 60 yards a piece.

Even though Neuheisel is no longer with UCLA, the former Bruins quarterback is still making the program proud finding success in the Big Ten Conference.

Northwestern is having an impressive start to their season too, with the team’s only loss this season coming against Indiana in a 29-23 game. Penn State on the other hand is now 3-2 with losses to Wisconsin and now Northwestern.
