The Miami (FL) football team remains undefeated this season after thrashing Clemson on Saturday. The Hurricanes won 41-13. Miami head coach Mario Cristobal paid Clemson a compliment after the game.
“Cristobal was later complimentary of Clemson’s roster, saying the Tigers have a couple of potential first-round NFL draft picks and maybe a dozen future pros among the 105 players who make up the squad,” Sports Illustrated reported.
Cristobal knows what it is like to get blown out in a game against Clemson.

“Four years ago when we came down here, we had just gotten to Miami with a roster that wasn’t what it was supposed to be and unfortunately we got our faces kicked in,” Cristobal said, referencing the 2022 game when Clemson won big. “I’m proud of the way the guys continued to battle, and fight when so many guys went down [with injuries]. We had several freshmen in the game at several points.”
Miami’s defense held Clemson to just 55 rushing yards in the game. The Hurricanes also got a great performance from quarterback Darian Mensah, who led the offense. Mensah threw for 227 passing yards and a touchdown.
Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney was positive following the loss.
“The score is not indicative of how they competed,” Swinney said. “Tough ball game. They were the better team, they’re a really, really talented team.
“Frustrating night. A missed opportunity.”
Miami is looking for another trip this season to the College Football Playoff. The Hurricanes made the CFP field in 2025, reaching the national championship game. Miami would go on to lose to Indiana in that contest.
Clemson meanwhile fell to 3-2 on the season after the loss Saturday. The Tigers were also blown out in the season opener against LSU.
The Hurricanes are next in action on October 17 against Florida State. Miami is now 3-0 in ACC play.
