Ohio State player flops on fair catch vs. Iowa
During Ohio State’s victory over Iowa on October 3, 2026, at Kinnick Stadium, Buckeyes wide receiver Devin McCuin was involved in a notable incident in the first quarter. After Iowa kicker Caden Buhr connected on a 43-yard field goal that narrowed the score to 7-3, Hawkeyes kicker Eli Ozick sent a 65-yard kickoff into the end zone.

McCuin, wearing No. 3, fielded the ball and signaled for a fair catch at the Ohio State goal line. Video of the play shows McCuin holding the football after the fair-catch signal. Iowa linebacker Brevin Doll (No. 13) approaches him and has contact with him that appears to be a light brush. However, McCuin then falls backward onto the turf in a pronounced manner, legs elevated, while remaining in possession of the ball.
Doll was immediately flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct. The 15-yard penalty moved the ball from the Ohio State 25 to the 40-yard line. McCuin finished the game with four receptions for 80 yards and one touchdown, a 15-yard scoring catch from quarterback Julian Sayin that had opened the scoring earlier in the quarter. Ohio State controlled the game with 484 total yards to Iowa’s 238.
The clip of the incident has since gone viral on social media. Many fans did not believe that McCuin actually fell due to the contact, and that he flopped intentionally.
