The SEC has had an exciting start to the 2026 season, with a few unexpected teams making some noise. Florida, Mississippi State, and Missouri have earned notable wins, teams the Sooners will play in 2026. But some of the league's biggest brands sit at the top of the standings through the first five weeks.

At the top of the standings are the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs. Alabama is coming off of a big win over upstart Mississippi State. The Bulldogs took care of business against the Vanderbilt Commodores. This week, the two SEC giants will meet in Tuscaloosa, Ala. for a battle of 3-0 teams in conference play.

After Alabama and Georgia, the No. 1-ranked Texas Longhorns. Texas is 1-0 in SEC play after beating Tennessee in Knoxville back in Week 4.

There are 11 teams with one loss or fewer in the standings, which means it's still a wide-open race to earn a berth in the SEC title game. South Carolina is likely out of title contention with their three losses. But the two-loss teams still have a shot to land in Atlanta — Alabama made it as a 10-2 team in 2025 — but it's a much harder road.

Here's a look at the SEC standings after Week 5.
