The Auburn Tigers are on their bye week, and the team needs a bit of a reset before the final seven games of the season. After losing on Saturday at Tennessee 24-14, Auburn is now 3-2 overall and 1-2 in the SEC.

With that loss, where do the Tigers stand in the latest ESPN Football Power Index rankings?

Auburn did not make any movement in the rankings despite the loss to the Volunteers. Also, the ESPN Football Power Index still has the Tigers on track for bowl season. They have a very slight chance at the College Football Playoff, but it is a chance according to the ESPN FPI.

Here is a look at where Auburn stands in the ESPN FPI as they hit their bye week.

Overall: No. 24

Auburn once again is staying at No. 24 in the rankings. This has been the spot for the Tigers over the previous three weeks. Neither a win over Vanderbilt nor a loss to Tennessee made much of an impact on that ranking. For Tennessee, they did not make much movement after defeating Auburn and stayed at No. 10. There are 10 teams ahead of Auburn that include four future opponents: Georgia (No.2), Alabama (No.6), LSU (No.8), and Ole Miss (No. 22).

Chance to win six games

According to the ESPN FPI, Auburn is still on track to make it to the postseason with a 75.3% chance at six wins. Auburn is still favored to defeat Arkansas and Samford to get to five wins. The sixth win will have to come in an upset victory. They have games at Georgia, LSU at home, at Ole Miss, at Mississippi State, and at Alabama, where they are currently not favored to win. The projected final record for Auburn is currently 6.3 wins and 5.7 losses.

Resume

Auburn's resume ranks No. 38 according to ESPN's Football Power Index. Their current strength of schedule is rated at No. 18, but the remaining schedule ranks No. 4. The remaining schedule ranking is third in the SEC behind LSU and Texas A&M.

Early Auburn at Georgia prediction

The next time the Auburn Tigers play football, it will be on Oct. 17 versus the Georgia Bulldogs. Currently, Auburn only has an 11.3% chance at a victory according to the ESPN Matchup Predictor. Auburn has not defeated the Georgia Bulldogs since the 2017 regular season, which saw a rematch in the SEC Championship that the Tigers lost. They have lost nine consecutive games to the Bulldogs in this class rivalry. Georgia will play at Alabama this week, where they have a 52.6% chance of victory.
