Texas A&M kicker David Olano played an important role in Saturday’s 34-7 victory over Arkansas, and the SEC recognized his performance Monday.

Olano was named Co-SEC Special Teams Player of the Week after connecting on two field goals from at least 50 yards and making all four of his extra-point attempts. It is the first weekly conference honor of his career.

The fifth-year kicker finished the game with 10 points. His first field goal came from a career-long 57 yards as time expired in the first half, giving the Aggies a 20-7 lead going into the locker room. He later made a 50-yard attempt during the fourth quarter.

Olano’s 57-yard field goal was the longest by a Texas A&M kicker since Terrence Kitchens connected from 62 yards against Southern Miss in 1999. It is also tied for the longest field goal by an SEC kicker this season and ranks ninth in program history.

Below is the excerpt from the release from conference officials:

Texas A&M’s David Olano, a fifth-year placekicker from Naperville, Ill., drilled two field goals of 50-plus yards in the Aggies’ win over Arkansas. His first make was a career-long 57-yard field goal as time expired in the first half, and his second came from exactly 50 yards in the fourth quarter. Olano finished with 10 points — six on field goals and four on PATs.

Olano’s 57-yarder is tied for the longest made field goal by an SEC kicker this season and is the longest by an SEC kicker in a conference game this season. It was also the longest made field goal by an Aggie since 1999 and the ninth-longest in program history. By connecting on both attempts, Olano improved to 7-for-7 on the year and became the first Aggie kicker since 2004 to begin his A&M career by making his first seven kicks.

Texas A&M returns to action Saturday against Missouri. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT on ABC.
