Tennessee is sticking with the quarterback change it made midway through its win over Auburn for Week 6.

According to multiple reports, George MacIntyre will start against Arkansas on Saturday. MacIntyre replaced Faizon Brandon during the No. 15 Vols’ 24-14 Week 5 win.

The sophomore came on at the end of the first half after Brandon was 3-of-8 passing for zero yards and an interception. Tennessee punted on its first four drives of the game — and ran 16 plays over those four drives — as Brandon’s first completion went for seven yards and his next two then lost seven yards.

MacIntyre finished the game 8-of-10 passing for 86 yards. Tennessee’s offense was powered by 34 carries for 220 yards and three touchdowns by running back DeSean Bishop.

Brandon won the team’s quarterback competition in fall camp as the Vols needed to replace starting QB Joey Aguilar. The interception he threw against Auburn was his first of the season, but he had failed to crack 200 yards passing in each of Tennessee’s last three games.

Against No. 1 Texas in Week 4, Brandon was 17-of-29 passing for 145 yards and a TD. He was also sacked 10 times as Texas edge rusher Colin Simmons had 5.5 of those sacks.

A Nashville native, MacIntyre was a four-star recruit in the class of 2025 and the No. 4 prospect in the state of Tennessee. He was ranked as the No. 16 quarterback in the country in the class ahead of players like Pitt’s Mason Heintschel and BYU’s Bear Bachmeier.
