Oct. 9—CLARA CITY — The combination of Aedyn Dahl and Colten Bothun provided Dawson-Boyd the power it needed to best MACCRAY on Friday night.

The seniors both ran for 100-plus yards and a touchdown in the Blackjacks' 28-7 victory in a Mid-South White District football matchup.

Dawson-Boyd, ranked 10th in Class A in the state media football poll, is now 5-1. MACCRAY drops to 2-4.

Bothun set the tone early.

Bothun, 6-foot-3, 205-pounds, is listed as a tight end/defensive end for D-B. Turns out, he's a do-it-all offensive player. He capped off the first drive of the game with a 10-yard TD run on a jet sweep. He finished the game with 106 rushing yards on 11 carries.

Bothun ended MACCRAY's first offensive drive with an interception that gave the Blackjacks the ball at midfield.

Then it was Dahl's turn.

The 6-0, 175-pound tailback finished off a five-play, 43-yard drive with a two-yard touchdown run. An Elvis Bellefeuille extra point put D-B ahead 14-0. Dahl led the Blackjacks' ground game with 114 yards on 18 carries.

Lucas Janssen, the Wolverines' freshman quarterback, used his legs to cut the deficit to 14-7 with a four-yard touchdown run.

But, D-B snatched the momentum before halftime thanks to Thatcher Johnson and Carson Stratmoen. Stratmoen, the Blackjacks' senior quarterback, connected with Johnson for a 36-yard pass that brought D-B to the MACCRAY 16-yard line. Three players later, the duo connected again as Stratmoen found the 6-0, 155-pound junior for a five-yard TD toss.

Stratmoen threw another touchdown in the second half with a four-yard TD pass to Mason Bothun.

Stratmoen was 9 of 17 passing for 94 yards. Mason Bothun had four catches for 37 yards. D-B's defense had six sacks from six different players.

Grant Meyer ran 144 yards on 20 carries for the Wolverines.

The Sting got interceptions from Kolten Blankenhagen, Lane Wohlman and Dane Hildahl. Caysen Lien had six tackles and Dane Hildahl had three solo and three assisted tackles for YME, which held Madelia to three yards rushing on 23 carries.
