The No. 3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish are up 37-0 over the Stanford Cardinal on Saturday. It’s been a one-sided affair in this one, as the first half ended shortly after a 70-yard touchdown play to Aneyas Williams.
Quarterback CJ Carr connected with the junior running back on a deep go route that left Williams wide open along the sideline. He outran the Stanford defenders and took it to the house for six points. That 70-yard touchdown play just so happened to nearly match Stanford’s entire offensive output of 83 total yards at that time in the game. The Cardinal gained three more yards before going into halftime.

Stanford had essentially no chance of winning this one going into it, as Notre Dame is one of the best teams in the nation right now. Marcus Freeman’s team is doing pretty much anything they want on Saturday, as the offense already has nearly 350 total yards with the third quarter underway.
Unless there is a complete collapse, Notre Dame is well on its way to earning its sixth win of the season. But the back half of the schedule should be a bit more challenging for the Fighting Irish, as the program is set to take on three currently ranked opponents in the No. 8 BYU Cougars, the No. 4 Miami Hurricanes, and the No. 24 SMU Mustangs (rankings are subject to change).
BYU is Notre Dame’s next opponent on the schedule. That game will kick off in Week 7 on Saturday, October 17 at 7:30 p.m. EST. It will be a road game for the Fighting Irish.
