.4 Million College Football Coach Emerges As Candidate To Replace Mark Stoops At Kentucky

The Kentucky Wildcats are the newest SECcollege football team looking for a head coach.

Kentucky reportedly fired head coach Mark Stoops after 13 seasons with the program. The Wildcats finished the season with a 5-7 record, missing bowl eligibility for the second straight season.

After the season concluded, there were several rumors that Kentucky would finally make the decision to part ways with Stoops.

With the news being official, several candidates have came into play for Kentucky.

In a recent article written by Joe Cox at College Football HQ, Dan Mullen was listed as a candidate to replace Mark Stoops as the head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats.

Mullen is currently in his first season as the head coach of the UNLV Rebels.

According to USA Today, Mullen’s buyout with the Rebels is currently sitting around $11.4 million. He’s estimated to make around $3.5 million annually at UNLV.

Mark Stoops served as the head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats since 2013.

Stoops had two double-digit win seasons with the Wildcats, but aside from that, it was quite the rollercoaster moving downward for Kentucky.

He also spent time at Florida State, Arizona, Miami, Houston and Wyoming before serving as the head coach at Kentucky.

Dan Mullen just recently made his return to college football in the coaching realm.

Mullen agreed to a deal with UNLV after serving as a college football analyst on ESPN. He made the move to broadcasting after being fired from the Florida Gators.

The former Florida coach led the Gators to two double-digit win seasons during his four-year tenure with the team.
