Army vs Tulsa Prediction: The Nation's Best Ground Game Keeps Rolling
NCAAF College Football News, Photos, Stats, Scores, Schedule & Videos...
As Friday night games go, this should be a blast.
Tulsa’s win over Oklahoma State now looks even more shocking than it was at the time, but it was hard to keep the fun going with three straight losses after starting 3-0. A win over Rice kept the Golden Hurricane from fizzling out, and they should still be bowl-eligible with ease if they can win this.
Army is the flip of the Tulsa season, starting with a 2-2 start – losing to USF and Louisiana Tech by a combined six points – but it won three of its last four, is 3-1 in the American Conference, and it’ll be deep in the mix for the conference title if they can stay hot.

Why Army Will Win
Can Tulsa stop the run? Not really? Okay, thanks, it’s been a blast.
Tulsa is 122nd in the nation in run defense, getting blasted for over 220 yards on the ground in each of the last three games.
How did the Golden Hurricane do against the Navy version of the ground game? It gave up close to six yards per carry and four scores in the loss. Rice’s option style cranked out 290 yards and two scores.
Army is No. 1 in the nation in rushing by over 12.5 yards per game over Air Force, 54 yards per game over Texas State, and 59 yards per outing over Navy.
Why Tulsa Will Win
Okay, fine, so Army is going to run the ball. No duh. Tulsa can play a little, too.
It’s all relative. Yes, the Tulsa run defense hasn’t been amazing, but the stats are skewed because, yes, it played Rice and Navy teams that combined to run the ball 121 times and didn’t throw a lick.
North Texas ran for 227 yards on Tulsa, but again, that’s a bit of an outlier considering the Mean Green style. No one else ran for over 135 yards against Tulsa.
Army is 0-2 when it doesn’t run for more than 270 yards.
Army vs Tulsa Prediction, Betting Lines
Army will run it over 50 times, and while that’s not necessarily the problem for Tulsa, control over the game will matter. The Knights just don’t screw up – no penalties, almost no freebee turnovers, and no chances to own the tempo.
Army will have the ball for just under 40 minutes, but Tulsa will get enough licks in to keep this fun.
Army 30, Tulsa 27
