Nashville Christian five-star quarterback Jared Curtis, the subject of a recruiting tug-of-war between Vanderbilt football and Georgia, has closed his Dec. 3 signing ceremony to the media.
Nashville Christian made the announcement through a release on Dec. 2. Athletic director Ronnie Seigenthaler told The Tennessean in a text that Curtis “has decided not to have a public signing ceremony so he can focus on preparing for the (TSSAA football Division II-A) state championship game (on Dec. 4).”
Curtis is the No. 1 quarterback nationally and No. 4 player overall from the 2026 class, according to the 247Sports Composite.
The decision comes after Curtis’ recruitment took a turn on the eve of early signing day. Reports surfaced that Curtis had decommitted from Georgia and flipped to Vanderbilt. Curtis denied the reports in a social media post shortly after and has not publicly stated where his recruitment stands.
Curtis’ original signing ceremony was set for Dec. 5 after Nashville Christian played in the state championship. It was then moved up to Dec. 3 and had been open to media until the afternoon of Dec. 2.
Did Jared Curtis commit to Vanderbilt football?
Curtis’ agent, Peter Webb of QB Reps, told The Tennessean that as of late afternoon on Dec. 2 he doesn’t know where his client’s recruitment stands and is waiting for confirmation.
Webb said Curtis had not spoken with Vanderbilt or Georgia’s coaching staffs on Dec. 2, as of late afternoon, and is not aware of Curtis speaking to either staff the night prior.
Webb said he thought the plan for Dec. 2 was for Curtis to call a few confidants and coaches, then make a decision. According to Webb, they scrapped the plan when reports surfaced about Curtis flipping.
