Ever since Dan Lanning showed up at Oregon, the Ducks have been elite when it comes to recruiting in general. However, the recruitng in the secondary has been tops, with numerous 5-stars and high-end players coming in the defensive backfield.
One of the top additions this year is 4-star safety Xavier Lherisse, a 5-foot-10, 185-pound safety out of Melbourne, Florida. Rated as the No. 384 player and No. 33 safety in the nation, Lherisse flew a bit under the radar during his recruitment, but he turned heads earlier this year at some 7-on-7 camps over the summer, and can provide a nice addition to the Ducks’ secondary.

Xavier Lherisse S Outlook
As a smaller defender, it will be interesting to see where the Ducks choose to play Lherisse in the secondary and whether or not he drops deep or fits more in at the nickel position. Either way, he is a rangy player and likely will move around a bit.
Oregon S Depth Chart
The Ducks have a good, young safety room, so Lherisse may have to wait his turn if the guys currently on the roster have a say about the depth chart next year. It’s most likely that Lherisse ends up redshirting as a freshman before finding a contributing role in 2027.
Oregon 2025 Class Outlook
Going into the Early Signing Period, the Ducks are expected to sign a fourth-straight top-10 class, and there’s a good chance that they ink another top-5 class, challenging for the best signing class in program history yet again under Dan Lanning. While Oregon may not have the size of class that we’ve seen in the past, pushing 30 recruits, it does rank as the best in the nation when it comes to the average rating of recruits. The Ducks focused on quality over quantity this cycle, and they’re bringing in a handful of the best players in the nation as members of the 2026 class.
