A member of Hugh Freeze's staff at Auburn has landed on his feet with a new program.

Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports reported Monday that Kenyatta Watson, the Assistant General Manager for Auburn football, and a key piece of Auburn's recruiting efforts, has agreed to become the General Manager for Boston College football. The position is seen as an upgrade from the assistant role under Will Redmond and gives Watson the chance to have majority control of a program.

Boston College head coach Bill O'Brien is looking to get back on track after leading the Eagles to a 2-10 record in 2025, after earning seven wins in his debut season in 2024. Watson said that after many discussions with O'Brien, he feels ready to return to his alma mater to right the ship.

“Bill (O'Brien) and I literally talked almost every day, listening to him, his plan and his vision for the program,” Watson said. “And it kind of got me more and more intrigued every day. I was just like ‘Okay, now I know I can come back and help turn my alma mater around.’ Like, I feel it.”

Watson was a major part of Auburn football's recruiting success over the last three seasons. However, the Tigers will be in good shape in recruiting as well as roster retention, as interim head coach DJ Durkin and defensive line coach Vontrell King-Williams will be retained by Alex Golesh.
