The UTEP football program added 25 newcomers for the 2026 season in the December signing period.
Of the 25 signees, 23 are from Texas high school football programs and the other two are from Junior Colleges in California.
UTEP coach Scotty Walden said he was happy with the class, which included 12 defensive players and 13 offensive players.
The Miners will play the 2026 season in the Mountain West Conference after moving over from Conference USA.
Highlights from the UTEP football early signing list
- The Miners signed Abilene Cooper defensive lineman Dycin Davis, who had 13 sacks this past season.
- Quarterback Bodey Weaver is a strong prospect at quarterback. The Colleyville, Texas, native threw 27 touchdown passes and rushed for 14 more this past season.
- Kane White-Tinsley from White Plains High School in Amarillo has intercepted 16 passes for the 12-1 Wolves, who are 12-1 and still playing in the Class 4A playoffs.
UTEP signs three El Paso athletes
- Johan Camacho, tight end, Bowie High School. The 6-foot-3, 217-pound Camacho is the brother of UTEP offensive lineman Juan Camacho.
- Eric Sandoval, offensive line, Franklin High School. The 6-foot-5 Sandoval is one of two offensive linemen at Franklin who signed with Division I programs.
- Daveon Singleton, all-around athlete, Chapin High School. An explosive athlete, who played running back, quarterback, receiver and returned kicks for Chapin.
What UTEP coach Scotty Walden said
On Franklin's Eric Sandoval: "He's very athletic. We saw him in the West Side Bowl game at the Sun Bowl and like him. He came to or camp and killed it."
On Johan Camacho: ''He did it all for Bowie. He has a tremendous frame and he was impressive at our camp."
On Daveon Singleton: "Daveon is a do-it-all guy; he's unbelievable."
