Florida football signee Will Griffin has been named the 2025-26 Gatorade Florida Football Player of the Year.
A four-star quarterback out of Jesuit High School in Tampa, Griffin officially signed with the Gators on Wednesday.
The award recognizes the state’s best high school football player, factoring in on-field production, academic performance and community involvement. Griffin joins an elite group of past winners that includes NFL legends and top college standouts, further emphasizing the weight of the honor.
Griffin, a 6-foot-3-inch, 225-pound senior, delivered one of the most statistically impressive seasons in state history. He threw for 2,534 yards and 37 touchdowns, while tossing just two interceptions all year has he guided Jesuit to a Class 4A regional finals appearance.

His career numbers are even more staggering: 12,299 passing yards and 143 touchdowns, with his 2-to-0 interception ratio making national evaluators take notice.
Jesuit head coach Matt Thompson praised Griffin not only for his production, but for his maturity, describing him as “one of the great prep football careers in Florida history.”
Griffin expects to be joining a quarterback room that contains DJ Lagway and Tramell Jones under new head coach Jon Sumrall. Landing the Gatorade Player of the Year gives Florida another headline piece in their 2026 recruiting class.
