Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Ty Simpson remains confident following Alabama‘s 28-7 SEC championship loss to the Georgia Bulldogs. After the game, Simpson expressed his confidence in the Alabama offense to the media.

“Yeah, we have a standard, right, as an offense,” Simpson said after the loss. “In general, we think that… actually we know we have the best offense in the country. And then when we don’t show it, right, like it is very frustrating. Especially times when, you know, we’re just a couple of things away. So, you know, like I said, credit to Georgia‘s defense. They had a good plan. It is pretty much simple as that.”

Simpson and Alabama did not score a touchdown until the fourth quarter against Georgia’s defense. Alabama was held to a negative rushing total for just the second time in school history. The Crimson Tide’s offense certainly did not look like the best offense in the country in the SEC championship, but in Alabama’s defense, they had over 10 players out including two running backs and a key offensive lineman.

Simpson finished the game 19 of 39 for 212 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception. He ran for a season-worst negative-28 rushing yards on six carries (includes sacks). Simpson had a season-worst QBR of 20.0 in the defeat.

Georgia’s defense did a much better job of getting off the field on third downs (Alabama converted just three of 13 third down attempts) than in the first meeting. The Bulldogs put much more pressure on Simpson this game and forced him out of rhythm far more this game.
