As Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes look for an answer to their recent losing skid, Coach Prime has reportedly announced a QB change.
Going into the year, everyone knew replacing Shedeur Sanders was never going to be easy. But the position has been a real disappointment in 2025 when it comes to the play of upperclassmen Kaidon Salter and Ryan Staub.
And now with the defense struggling even more over the last two games — giving up a combined 105 points — Deion has decided that it’s time to go with the true freshman to dig themselves out of the 3-6 hole they find themselves in.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Coach Prime confirmed the rumors that he’ll be turning the keys over to four-star freshman Julian Lewis in Saturday’s game at West Virginia.
“We have a freshman that is going to start for us [Julian ‘JuJu’ Lewis],” Deion said. “They [West Virginia] have a freshman QB starting for them. … He has to be himself. Just do what you been doing your whole life. You gotta let them know you are in control.”
When asked about the reason for the change, Sanders replied: “Common sense… common sense. … He’s good. He’s throwing the heck out of the ball.”
Lewis has made a couple of appearances so far this year against Delaware and Arizona. In those games he threw for a combined 129 yards and a touchdown on 11-of-21 attempts with a sack.

College fans react to move
“Colorado is in good hands with QB Julian Lewis🙏🦬” a user said.
“Julian Lewis should’ve been starting all year for Colorado,” another claimed.
“The Julian Lewis Era at Colorado has begun,” a fan commented.
“Finally we get to see Julian Lewis. It’s been a long difficult season but I’m happy the young man is finally getting his chance,” another person posted.
Lewis was a highly-touted prospect coming out of Carrollton High School in Georgia with offers from the likes of Alabama, USC, UGA, LSU, Michigan and Ohio State. Instead he chose to go to Boulder to follow-up Shedeur and he’ll get his chance four days from now.
